Both hardwood and laminate can look great, but they suit different situations. Hardwood is the more durable long-term investment — it can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its life, and it tends to add more resale value to a home. It’s also more expensive upfront and less tolerant of standing water.
Laminate costs less, installs faster, and holds up well in busy households with kids or pets, but it can’t be refinished — once the top layer is damaged, that plank needs to be replaced. If budget is the main driver, laminate is usually the better fit; if you’re planning to stay in the home long-term, hardwood tends to pay for itself.
