Soft or Spongy Areas
A floor that feels soft or spongy underfoot can indicate weakened subfloor material. Moisture damage is one possible cause, particularly around bathrooms, kitchens, laundry areas and exterior doors.
Address softness if the affected area grows or feels unstable. The finished flooring may need partial removal so you can properly inspect the underlying condition.
